Paternity testing is a phenomenon of comparing 16 different locations from a sample of a father and child and finds the probability of a biological match. The samples are essentially DNA related.

Paternity Test Benefits:

The results are accepted as proofs in issues of child support, inheritance, social welfare benefits, immigration, adoption purposes, custody battles and other legal issues.

When is the test recommended?

The test is recommended when the biological mother is unsure of the father of the child. In cases like adopted children to be reunited to biological parents, potential hospital mix ups, or in vitro fertilization, these tests are recommended.

What does the test do?

The test compares the DNA sequence of the kid to the DNA samples of the individual and this can show if the DNA sequence of the child has been derived from the same individual or not. Specific sequences which are a copy from an individual are tested. If this is proved same after testing it implies that the genetic material of the child has been derived from the individual tested. Also another method is to test the mitochondria. This is much easier and reliable. In testing the paternity of a male child, the comparison of Y chromosome is the most simplest and most common.
